Legend Summer Camps Recap: GMU & NC State

Our Legend summer camps with George Mason University and NC State University went extremely well, and we want to thank everyone who participated.

For the GMU camp, our wrestlers had the unique opportunity to work with four Division 1 coaches. Camp staff featured Head Coach Frank Beasley, Associate Head Coach and MAC Champion Peter Pappas, Assistant Coach, MAC Champion, and U20/U23 All-American Logan Messer, as well as the newest addition to the Patriot staff, four-time NCAA qualifier Gabe Willochell.

The NC State Camp enabled our wrestlers to learn from and train with some of the most decorated athletes and coaches in the country. Camp staff included:

  • Trent Hidlay: 4x NCAA All-American, US Open Champion, World Champion, 3x World Medalist

  • Jamill Kelly: Olympic Silver Medalist, 2x World Team Member, 4x Member of US National Team, Wolfpack RTC Head Coach

  • Nick Gwiazdowski: 2x NCAA Champion, 4x NCAA All-American, 2x World Medalist

  • Tommy Gantt: NCAA All-American, National Team Member, UFC top contender

In addition to demonstrating hours of world-class technique and drills, all camp coaches talked to the wrestlers about the importance of academics and preparing to wrestle at the college level. They also shared valuable insights from their many years of experience in our sport.

With group sizes between 40 and 50, everyone had plenty of quality training partners while still receiving personalized attention. In addition to our guest clinicians, members of our own coaching staff and college wrestlers were on hand to provide extra help.

We are very thankful to all of our clinicians for sharing their time and expertise.
