SCHOLARSHIPS

Our Mission

At Legend Wrestling, our mission is to maximize student-athletes’ potential both on and off the mat by providing professional coaching, mentorship, and a positive, supportive community. We are committed to developing well-rounded, success-driven individuals with integrity.

That mission extends beyond wrestling. It shows up in how our athletes grow—as students, as teammates, and as people preparing for what comes next.

Legend Wrestling Scholarship Program

At Legend, we believe success isn’t just built on the mat—it’s built in character, in the classroom and in preparation for life after high school.

That’s why supporting our athletes academically is an important aspect of our program.

Over the past few years, we’ve been building what we now think of as the Legend Scholarship Program—a combination of support systems designed to make sure our athletes have every opportunity to succeed, regardless of financial circumstances.

What the Legend Scholarship Program Includes

1. Training Scholarships
We believe that money should never be the reason an athlete can’t step on the mat. Through our scholarship fund, we provide financial support to families who need it, with a goal of reaching 50 scholar-athletes and $100,000 in annual training support.

2. College Scholarships
This year, we will continue to award college scholarships to graduating seniors—not just for performance, but for growth, character, and the impact of their Legend experience.

These scholarships are based on reflection and personal development. One of the most powerful parts of the process is reading what our athletes take away from their time here:

  • “Legend isn’t just about building champions—it’s about building character.”

  • “Success doesn’t come from shortcuts—you have to show up and put in the work.”

  • “I gained confidence in myself and my ability to keep improving.”

  • “I finally realized what I’m actually capable of doing.”

One athlete described starting as “a soft, overweight sophomore with a dream,” and leaving as someone “gritty, technical, and mentally tough.” That transformation is what matters most to us.

Importantly, athletes do not need to wrestle in college to be eligible—this is about preparing for life, not just sport.

3. College Prep & Academic Support (New)
We’re also expanding how we support our athletes academically through a new partnership with High Point College Coaching, an outstanding SAT/ACT prep and college admissions coaching team.

I’ve known Lara and Rich Wilson, the founders, since our time at Miami University, where we worked together helping students develop study and life skills. They’ve also worked with my own kids with great results.

Their program focuses on:

  • Building confidence

  • Sharpening test-taking strategies

  • Developing critical thinking skills

  • Helping students perform at their best when it matters most

This service is now available to all Legend families.

In addition, selected need-based, high-achieving athletes will receive these services at no cost through our scholarship program—further extending the support we can provide beyond the mat.

Why This Matters

At Legend, our goal is simple:
To help young people become confident, disciplined, and capable individuals—ready to succeed wherever they go next.

Wrestling is the vehicle.
Character, academics, and life outcomes are the destination.

If you have questions about any part of the Legend Scholarship Program—or if you know a family who could benefit from what we offer—we’d love to connect.

We’re proud of what this community is building together, and we’re excited to continue expanding the opportunities available to our athletes.
